PA Act 101 is signed into law but SB975 is still needed so insurance company refusals to cover treatment center admittance due to sobriety is prohibited

Thanks Derek Hahn and others for sending this to me and congratulating me for this accomplishment. However, I can take no credit for this bill. My bill, SB 975, goes a big step forward from this one and prohibits insurance companies from denying coverage for admittance to treatment centers for the reason of a negative drug test. The treatment centers are not the problem; it's the insurance companies. The legislators knew this. It's a phony victory dance, solving a problem that does not exist. They obviously did not want to offend the powerful insurance industry which is a large election donor to both parties. I will continue to work on the passage of my bill, SB975, which was recently reintroduced by Senator Judy Schwank. Thanks Judy and everyone for your continued support of the Opioid Crisis Action Network (OCAN) and the recovery community.
