American Medical Association (AMA) statement on the state of the opioid crisis

We are setting overdose records (over 72,000 deaths last year) despite substantial reductions in opiate prescriptions and making naloxone (Narcan) widely available. States and federal law makers must remove barriers to provision and coverage of medical best practices treatment. My son, Brendan, died more than 2.5 years ago. I lost another former student last week. It is past time for our elected officials to act.
