This peer-reviewed study of thousands of patients published in the Journal of American Medicine should put all controversy to bed about the superior effectiveness (100 to 200%) of medication-assisted treatment (MAT) programs as opposed to abstinence-only methods. The study also shines light on the superior effectiveness of treatments using methadone or buprenorphine (suboxone) compared to naltrexone (Vivitrol). Stop stigmatizing what works! Public servants must remove all barriers to availability and coverage of these superior treatments and promote them. Everyone deserves best medical practices!
